Shanghai: Chapman Taylor Shanghai office celebrates its 8th Birthday!

No. 8 has long been regarded as the luckiest number in Chinese culture

The number 8 in China is viewed as being a very auspicious number and 2014 marks the 8th birthday of Chapman Taylor’s design studio in Shanghai, China. Since its inception in 2007 the Shanghai studio has grown significantly fuelled through client demand. Originally located in Sihang Warehouse on Suzhou Creek, the studio relocated in 2012 to larger residences in a grade 5A building in the centre of Xuhui District, Shanghai. The studio has since been expanded by another 150 m² and can now accommodate 80 Architectural Designers.

The practice grows on average 20% year-on-year

At the helm are Directors Hua Lei, Peter Mackey and new Director Jason Marriott who are looking forward to what Chinese traditions forecast to be a prosperous year. The team currently has a number of exciting and innovative projects in the pipeline including Global 100 on Hainan Island in the city of Haikou which is set to be one of the world’s largest theme parks. The studio is also designing Global Harbor in Changzhou, the sister project to Global Harbor Shanghai which opened in July 2013 and which has just won the 'Best Retail Architecture in the World' Award at the International Property Awards.
