Chapman Taylor designed entertainment complex will include Europe’s largest Ferris wheel

A new Ferris observation wheel, with a 1.5 million annual visitor capacity, will be built near the Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva (VDNKh) exhibition ground in the northeast of Moscow. The VDNKh is a permanent general purpose trade show and amusement park in Moscow. The 140-metre high observation wheel will be Europe’s tallest, taller than The London Eye, which stands at 135 metres.

The London Eye, one of the UK’s most popular paid attractions, is thought to have been visited by 60 million people since it opened in 2000.  When built, it is hoped that the Moscow Ferris wheel will be as successful and will become one of the Russian capital’s five most visited sights.

The wheel fits within a wider entertainment complex which will have a broad-roofed promenade, a city walk, a network of themed restaurants, speciality shops, a multiplex cinema and even a wax museum on the site.

The entertainment complex is designed by Chapman Taylor's Moscow Studio.  The Ferris wheel is hoped to be operational in 2018.
